‘Hello, pretty boy’ by Roz Nixon

The desire to express myself in a creative way has been a powerful force as far back as I can remember. I studied as much art history as my busy child-rearing-life would allow while living in California.

My style and interests are diverse, ranging from Abstract to what I call: “Contemporary Abstract Impressionism.”

I love playing wth texture, especially when it leads me in an unconventual direction–I allow my brush strokes to flow freely, uninhibited. I am not interested in painting in a detailed or realistic manner. To paraphrase a quote from Picasso, “I paint objects as I think them not as I see them.”

I use a rich palette and my imagination is romantic with a whisper of humor.

I have been influenced by several artists, but am a special fan of Henri Matisse, Diego Rivera, Amedeo Modigliani and Pablo Picasso.

You will find my paintings in collections throughout the U.S.
